Children are usually admitted from the surrounding areas of the setting, however we welcome applications from any parent who is interested in attempting to secure a place for their child.

Over Subscription Criteria
In the event of the preschool receiving more applications than places available, children will be ranked against the over-subscription criteria listed below. Within each criterion, children will be ranked by their straight line distance to the preschool with children nearer being given a higher rank.

Late completion and return the contract may affect the priority rating of the application.

Children can be admitted to the preschool on their second birthday. Some children will attend school full time, others for part of the day, depending on their funding allowance (15 or 30 hours).

Siblings living at the same address of children who already attend the preschool, will be given priority.

Children will be ranked by their straight line distance to the preschool with children nearer being given a higher rank.

STEP 2: Download the correct KCC Funding Application form below. This must be printed and brought with you when you visit the preschool for induction. This requires a hand signature and CANNOT be submitted online.

3. Contracted Hours

Tots Teachers Preschool is open for 38 weeks of the year, providing 190 days of high quality care and education, which is free for 2, 3 and 4 year olds who are eligible for government funding. We are a term time only provision and follow the Kent Local Authority term dates where possible. Our term dates are published on our Facebook page and website. Paid sessions are also available.

Morning sessions: Mon-Fri 9am-12 noon for 15 hours per week

Afternoon sessions: Mon-Fri 12 noon -3pm for 15 hours per week

Whole day: 9am-3pm for 30 hours per week

4. Contracted Fees

Funding (Universal Entitlement) is available from the term after your child’s 3rd birthday. Tots Teachers Preschool is free to those families who are eligible for Universal Entitlement, which is 15 hours for all 3 and 4 year olds. This is not means tested funding and is available to both working and non-working families. We will apply for your funding subject to completion of contracts.

Funding (Extended Entitlement) is available from the term after your child’s 3rd birthday. Tots Teachers Preschool is also free to those families who are eligible for the 30 hours Extended Entitlement, which is available to some families of 3 and 4 year olds. This is means tested funding and is available to some working families. You must apply via the local authority for your entitlement. We can help you with this.

Funding (Free For 2 / FF2) is available from the term after your child’s 2nd birthday. Tots Teachers Preschool is also free to those families of 2 year olds who are eligible for Kent’s Free For 2 scheme. This is means tested funding and is available to some families. You must apply via the local authority for your entitlement. We can help you with this.

Please note - if you decide to change setting, funding will not be transferred during a funding term.

If you would like your child to start preschool before the funding starts, we are able to offer non-funded places from their 2nd birthday. Non-funded places & extra hours are available at £7.50 per hour for 3 & 4 year olds and £8.50 per hour for 2 year olds. All fees are payable in advance. Unpaid fees will result in your child being unable to attend.

5. Charges & Payments

There are no hidden fees for your child’s attendance at Tots Teachers Preschool if they are eligible for any of the government funding schemes, however, should we arrange an optional visit outside the preschool, such as to a zoo or beach, we will notify you in advance of the extra costs – we will not make any profit from these trips and will share the costs equally amongst all parents. We will also provide the option of paying weekly towards such trips.

For fee-paying families, all fees are payable one week in advance. We operate a strict no pay, no play policy. Your child will not be permitted to attend until all outstanding fees are paid. Payment can be made on the day, prior to the session by arrangement. A charge of £10 per day will be applied to your account for late payments.

6. Holidays, National Holidays and Sickness

Tots Teachers Preschool will be open during term time only. We will provide dates for the academic year in advance. We will be closed during all national Bank Holidays. No charges are made for these. If your child has a holiday during term time, you are liable for full fees for the duration of the holiday. If your child is off sick or absent for any reason, full fees are payable.

7. Policies

By signing this contract, you are signing to say you have received, read and agree to Tots Teachers Preschool policies. Policies are sent to you free of charge via email / Baby’s Days unless you request a paper copy, which will cost £10, payable upon request – this is to cover printing costs. Please let us know in writing if you object to us using your child’s image on our Facebook page or in group photos shared with other parents on BabysDays.

8. Termination of Contract

Termination of this Contract requires 4 weeks from both parties. To terminate your child’s place, a 4 week notice period is required. This must be paid in full for your contracted hours. Your child is welcome to attend during the notice period. For non-payment of notice period, we reserve the right to recover the debt through our insurance, which could result in court proceedings and if necessary, a debt collection service. These extra costs will be added to the debt. Notice of termination must be given via email. In turn, if we need to terminate your contract for any reason, we will provide you with a minimum of 4 weeks written notice.

9. What you need to provide

You are required to provide (we suggest this is in a suitably sized back-pack, labelled with your child’s full name):

Weather appropriate clothing & footwear for outdoor play, eg wellies, raincoat, hat, gloves, scarf for winter / cold spells and lightweight long-sleeved clothing for sunnier weather)
water in a refillable water bottle (no juice)
a healthy packed lunch (eg sandwich, fruit & yoghurt) without nuts or sweets (full day & PM children only)
a healthy snack for each session (eg fresh or dried fruit)
a full change of clothes (in case of accident / getting wet during water-play / vomiting / etc), clearly labelled with child’s name
nappies, wipes and nappy sacks
sun-cream & sun-hat.
We do not have the storage space to keep your child’s belongings at the preschool.
