Weekly Roundup - World Book Day

Wow! What a wonderful World Book Day we have all had at Tots Teachers Preschools! We have focused our adult-led activities on a different book every day this week and have all enjoyed dressing up as our favourite characters! We have: been on bear hunts with our home-made binoculars; covered lots of math and science-based skills using The Very Hungry Caterpillar to help us - for example learning the order of the days of the week, colour-matching, life-cycles; built houses for the Three Little Pigs using STEM skills; investigated the Evil Pea’s crime scene using Supertato to help us; explored habitats using Dear Zoo; collaboratively created a giant Elmer the Elephant; had fun with Stick Man and so much more! Don’t forget to spend your special World Book Day voucher - if you don’t get a chance to go and spend it, please return it so we can buy some books for the children on your behalf.

The tots have thoroughly enjoyed all of the activities on offer this week! We bet they’re exhausted and hope they let you have a little bit of a lie-in this weekend!

Read below an extract from the World Book Day website

"World Book Day changes lives through a love of books and shared reading. Our mission is to promote reading for pleasure, offering every child and young person the opportunity to have a book of their own. Reading for pleasure is the single biggest indicator of a child’s future success – more than their family circumstances, their parents’ educational background or their income. We want to see more children, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds, with a life-long habit of reading for pleasure and the improved life chances this brings them. Designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, World Book Day is marked in over 100 countries around the globe."

We had great fun at all 3 of our sites - check out some of our amazing day below.
