SEN at Tots Teachers
SEN stands for Special Educational Needs. A child has SEN if they have a learning difficulty or disability requiring educational provision that is additional to or different from what's generally available for their age.
The main areas of need are:
-
Communication and Interaction: Difficulty expressing themselves or understanding others.
-
Cognition and Learning: Challenges with thinking and learning skills.
-
Social, Emotional and Mental Health: Struggles with feelings and behaviour.
-
Sensory and/or Physical Needs: Issues with vision, hearing, or physical development.

At Tots Teachers Preschools, we believe every child deserves the right support to thrive. We work closely with parents and professionals in a continuous cycle of care, ensuring each child’s individual needs are understood and met effectively.
Our knowledgeable SENCOs and dedicated staff have extensive experience across a wide range of special educational needs. They collaborate with other professionals to provide the highest quality care, education, and early support for every child in our care.
Progress checks, such as the two-year progress check, play a vital role in identifying any potential needs early on, we encourage parents to share these with our team so we can best support your child’s development.
Our practitioners carefully observe all children for any signs of additional needs and will always discuss these observations with parents or carers in a sensitive and supportive way.
Key professionals who may be involved in supporting children with SEN include Early Years Educators, SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinators), Health Visitors, and Paediatricians.
If you ever have concerns about your child’s development or progress, please don’t hesitate to speak with a member of our caring staff team, we’re here to help every step of the way.
